Pick the hail size you saw, then tap anything you can spot from the ground. You never have to climb a ladder for this. The result is a starting point, not a diagnosis; only a roof inspection settles it.

Built for this climate
San Antonio sits in one of the busiest hail corridors in Texas. The April 2016 storm that pounded the north and west sides is still the one people mention, but smaller spring storms do quieter damage every year: bruised shingles, cracked tile and dented metal that leak a season or two later. That is why we treat a storm damage inspection as documentation first and a sales visit never.
Heat is the second force. Attic air above 140 degrees bakes shingles from below, and a roof with poor intake and exhaust can age years faster than its label says. Many of the repairs we make start with fixing attic ventilation rather than adding more sealant.
Then there are the trees. Live oaks drop leaves and tassels all spring, fill valleys and gutters, and send limbs onto roofs in every wind event. Add the city's mix of 1920s plank-decked bungalows, 1970s ranch homes and newer tile subdivisions outside Loop 1604, and you get a roofing market where one answer never fits every house.
That variety is the work we like. Ortiz Roofing crews move between shingle, metal, tile and flat roofs in the same week, and the person who answers your call will ask enough questions to send the right people with the right material.

How a job runs
A real person answers 24/7 and asks what you see, when it started and what kind of roof you have.
If water is coming in, we tarp or seal the opening the same day or night when it is safe to climb.
We walk the roof, check the attic and photograph each slope, vent and flashing detail.
You get photos, measurements and a written scope that says repair or replace and why.
Crews protect the yard, finish the job in the agreed order and clean up nails with a magnet sweep.
We review the finished roof, hand over photos and answer any question before we leave.
What to expect
Calls at midnight on a storm night get the same answers as calls at noon. You will know the next step before you hang up.
If we say a slope is damaged, you will see the picture. If it is fine, we tell you that too, and leave it alone.
Shingle, metal, tile or membrane: we recommend what fits your house, budget and HOA, not what is easiest to sell.
San Antonio and Beeville both answer to (210) 750-1898, so the whole region reaches the same team.
Materials we install and repair
Shingles from GAF, Owens Corning and Malarkey, concrete tile from Eagle Roofing, and metal panels from Englert show up on San Antonio roofs every week. We install and repair the materials homeowners already have.
Where we work
From the downtown office on East Houston Street we cover every San Antonio neighborhood, all of Bexar County and the growing towns along I-35, I-10, US-281 and US-87. Our Beeville office keeps the Coastal Bend side covered too.
Answers
Our phones are answered around the clock, so the first step happens on the call. Active leaks get a tarp or temporary seal as fast as a crew can safely get on the roof. Inspections after a big hailstorm are booked in the order calls come in, and we tell you the real wait time on the phone.
All of them. San Antonio has more clay and concrete tile, standing seam metal and low-slope sections than most cities, and we repair and replace each type. If your house mixes materials, like a shingle main roof with a flat porch, we handle both parts in one visit.
Yes. We document damage slope by slope with photos and measurements, meet the adjuster when you want us there, and walk you through the estimate line items. Texas law does not let a roofer act as your public adjuster or waive your deductible, so we stay in our lane: facts, photos and the repair itself.
All of San Antonio and Bexar County, plus New Braunfels, Schertz, Cibolo, Seguin, Boerne, Helotes, Bulverde, Canyon Lake, San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Castroville, Floresville, Pleasanton, Kerrville and Beeville, where our second office is. Type your ZIP into the checker on this page to confirm in a few seconds.
It depends on how many slopes took hits, the roof age and whether matching shingles still exist. A few bruised areas on a newer roof usually mean repair. Widespread damage across several slopes, or an older roof, usually points to replacement, and that is often what an insurance claim pays for.
Our roofing cost guide lists typical San Antonio ranges for every service we offer, from a pipe boot fix to a full tile reroof. The final price always comes from the inspection, because pitch, layers, decking and access change the numbers on every house.
